Today I went to visit my old school for a portfolio exhibition, it was nice to see my old teachers and see what the new students were working on.  I remember doing the same portfolio project in my year, and honestly it seemed like a waste of time.  The format they made us use was so boring and it really didn't leave much space for us to arrange it to our brand's image.  My portfolio is still at the school being shown at the open campus events since I don't really have use for it at the moment.  I should pick it up eventually and re-do the whole thing.  Back to the drawing board for me.

Carrot Girl

dress. hanjiro (vintage)
scarf. vintage
jewelry. betsey johnson

Today I went to a BBQ in Nishi Azabu, it was hosted by a friend of a friend and it was an interesting group of guests.  Haven't really had the chance to go to outdoor house parties in Tokyo, so it was really nice.  I really miss the outdoor parties in Berkeley.  Man, I can't wait to have my own place with a backyard (I would settle for a terrace too!).

I didn't actually wear this scarf with my dress today, but I like to pair it with this dress since it makes me look like a carrot.  I actually wore this outfit on Easter, and even have orange tights to add some funk.  I didn't wear tights today so I was able to discover the numerous bruises I have (probably from work) and I look like a blue and white dalmatian.  Happy to have the day off tomorrow!  Will find something fun to do yay :))

"It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing"

This is from Saturday. I went vintage shop researching with my coworker in Daikanyama and Naka Meguro (in Tokyo). We walked the whole day starting at the famous Hachiko statue in Shibuya. I actually used to work in Daikanyama but I've never been shopping there before, it's a very nice place for a walk with lots of little shops and high fashion stores. Lovely to stroll around but not so good for my budget. There are many small vintage stores in that area specializing in high fashion brands like Chanel, Gucci, and Givenchy. Oh what I'd give for a vintage Chanel bag...

Naka Meguro is a really nice neighborhood with many shops along the river lined with cherry blossom trees. I heard it is beautiful in April when they all blossom. We spent about five hours walking around researching trends and noting prices and made it back to Hachiko around 7pm.

I was so tired afterwards, but somehow I had the energy to dance all night in Shibuya. It was actually a lot of fun, but I passed out when I got home in the morning and slept till 4pm. Oh, and a little sidenote, March 3rd is Girl's Day in Japan!

My coworker got a gel nail kit and she did my nails! It's the first time I've tried gel nails, I'm surprised they haven't chipped even after a week of washing dishes and strumming the guitar. Regular nail polish for me lasts about an average of 2 days. :0

Friday the 13th

dress. hanjiro (vintage)
sweater. h&m
coat. fcuk
tights. tsumori chisato (gift)
hat. handmade
backpack. hanjiro (original)

My hat is back out of it's box! I made this back when I was in school, it's reversible but I think I did something wrong and if you flip it the other way it looks like a shower cap...

Also I got a new wool dress from Hanjiro for the winter. The pin I got last November at the Tokyo Design Festa. It reminds me of the Finnish flag, and I love flags. As you can see my backpack has the British flag. And I used to have a bandanna of the American flag but I lost it, such a bummer. My teacher in design school gave it to me during a school festival to show everyone I was American... it was actually very annoying and I refused to wear it then, but it became my favorite bandanna. Come back my darlin'!

Dressed to Chill

shirt. dkny thrift
dress. hanjiro
cardigan. hanjiro
coat. fcuk
gloves. picot
tights and socks. ???

It's too chilly to go outside!! But I am bundled up in all my layers, and I bought a pair of gloves on the way home today. I'll be all set for winter once I find something that will warm my face without making it look like I'm about to rob a bank.

Today was my first day back at work, it was okay I guess but I was dead tired and all I could think of was going home and crawling into my bed with the heat cranked up and watching Sherlock Holmes (the 1940's version). But Thursdays I have guitar lessons so I got home late, but exciting news!! I bought tickets to see JUSTICE perform in Tokyo next Thursday! I'm going with a friend and we are pumped! I haven't been to any events this big in Japan so I can't wait! I'm already planning what to wear while TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY plays on loop in my head.

Anyways, so I got home and this is what I did.
I blend in...
