Kiryu

So i went to sleep fairly early yesterday so that i could wake up at 6am and have plenty of time to get ready for a school field trip which starts at 8:10am, i figured i'd get up around 6 then eat breakfast and be done around 6:30, brush my teeth and get dressed, put on make up and be out the door by 7:20 to make it in time for the 7:30 train to school......... that was the initial plan

in reality my life goes something like this,
wake up at 7
wolf down that piece of toast i bought yesterday because i had a feeling that i might not wake up in time for my dorm's breakfast
wash my face and brush my teeth, bathroom etc.
get dressed
3 minute make up
check the clock, it says 7:20 ----- "shit!!"
put on socks and grab my bag
run out the door around 7:25
and barely make it for the 7:30 train, actually i didn't think i'd make it but i did!! yay!!
get to school at 8:05! not late!!! woot woot (for like the first time...)

but... out of my class of roughly 40 students...
there shows up 3...
figures...

so we wait another thirty minutes and the end result multiplies into 9 students, but seriously... are you serious??!!?!?!?

.....whatever, at least we all had plenty of space in the bus and it actually wasn't that bad

so our field trip today was to Kiryu which is in the countryside of Japan about two hours away from Tokyo by bus
it is famous for textile manufacturing and silk i guess, apparently the obi (japanese belt worn with kimonos) in Memoirs of a Geisha was made in Kiryu... yup...

so anyways we went to go see a textile factory there and it was actually pretty cool, and we got to dye our own hanker chiefs with indigo, it reminded me of the time we made tie dye t-shirts in the 5th grade, it was pretty gnarly

mine came out ok, except it didn't really dye all the way to the core, but i'm thinking of adding calligraphy or writing in the giant blank in the corner
my theme is the sun.
it looks a little light but the color becomes darker as it oxidises which is really cool, indigo is actually very interesting!

for lunch we ate all you can eat soba and udon!!! it was soooo good!
the waitress ladies kept filling our bowls with noodles as they passed by, it was never ending!!! hee hee

then our final stop was to an exhibit on traditional clothing from Hungry, Poland, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia, i always loved Hungarian and Polish traditional wear and it was so cool to see this and traditional clothing from other countries as well! The clothes looked so comfortable to wear, it made me want to dance!!

today i wore the scarf i made in class!! actually i started it awhile ago (see earlier post) but never finished it until last week!! i must wear it out before spring is here!!

this post is for yesterday~
25th is payday for me, so i decided to spend the day out~

first i went to the nearby grocery market to buy fruits and various foods for lunch, i have decided to cut back on buying from the convenience store and make my own lunch instead. Since i don't have my own refrigerator i am quite limited in the stuff i can buy... but i am still able to put stuff in the shared refrigerator downstairs so it helps, but there is limited space in there and sometimes there are some moochers sneaking a bite...
anyways, i thought sandwiches are a good start so i bought bread, ham, and cheese~ pair that with some yogurt and fruit and voila easy lunch! yippee~

after coming back, unpacking then eating lunch (which i bought at the grocery market deli... ) i decided it was getting cold out so i changed... also my skirt was a little short and the wind was blowing like a maniac!!
and yet... i wasn't practical enough to change into pants....

lunch.
inari sushi
potato croquette
meat croquette
yogurt
tonic water
orange

then~
off to kinshicho i went
kinshicho is a pretty good city for shopping, there are some malls and a movie theater, lots of restaurants, and its only two stations away so i go there a lot when i need or want something, mostly for the fabric store which has a good variety for a decent price, plus i have a member's point card ;)
surprisingly the fabric store was closed today... i have no idea why~
but instead i bought:
eating utensils (fork, knife, & spoon)
bowl (for my fruits!)
a cutting board
fruit washing bowl
colored ball point pens
a photo album book
powder foundation
bourjois paris brown nail polish
french connection jacket
and a skirt from earth music & ecology (which came in a super cute cotton bag!)

a ton of shopping today! and yet i didn't even spend a hundred dollars!!
i think shopping is a talent ;)
