"It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing"

This is from Saturday. I went vintage shop researching with my coworker in Daikanyama and Naka Meguro (in Tokyo). We walked the whole day starting at the famous Hachiko statue in Shibuya. I actually used to work in Daikanyama but I've never been shopping there before, it's a very nice place for a walk with lots of little shops and high fashion stores. Lovely to stroll around but not so good for my budget. There are many small vintage stores in that area specializing in high fashion brands like Chanel, Gucci, and Givenchy. Oh what I'd give for a vintage Chanel bag...

Naka Meguro is a really nice neighborhood with many shops along the river lined with cherry blossom trees. I heard it is beautiful in April when they all blossom. We spent about five hours walking around researching trends and noting prices and made it back to Hachiko around 7pm.

I was so tired afterwards, but somehow I had the energy to dance all night in Shibuya. It was actually a lot of fun, but I passed out when I got home in the morning and slept till 4pm. Oh, and a little sidenote, March 3rd is Girl's Day in Japan!

My coworker got a gel nail kit and she did my nails! It's the first time I've tried gel nails, I'm surprised they haven't chipped even after a week of washing dishes and strumming the guitar. Regular nail polish for me lasts about an average of 2 days. :0

This is what I wore friday night to go clubbing with my roommate. She wanted to check out the Tokyo night scene before she goes back to France next month. Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs was guest djing in Shibuya Trump Room so we went and checked it out. He was actually very down to earth and super nice, hope they start touring soon so I can go see them all perform live! He did the classic pound to the chest followed by a peace sign as I said bye, it was pretty awesome.

my make up was inspired by this picture

These are from Wednesday. I got my film developed so I went and picked them up that day, I'm finally getting the hang of taking film pictures. This was my mom's old camera but I adopted it since it was just lying around our house picking up dust. My mom got this camera to take pictures after I was born, it's pretty old, but it still works great, the winding self timer is rusty and broken but besides that it is perfect.

Friday the 13th

dress. hanjiro (vintage)

tights. tsumori chisato (gift)

backpack. hanjiro (original)

My hat is back out of it's box! I made this back when I was in school, it's reversible but I think I did something wrong and if you flip it the other way it looks like a shower cap...

Also I got a new wool dress from Hanjiro for the winter. The pin I got last November at the Tokyo Design Festa. It reminds me of the Finnish flag, and I love flags. As you can see my backpack has the British flag. And I used to have a bandanna of the American flag but I lost it, such a bummer. My teacher in design school gave it to me during a school festival to show everyone I was American... it was actually very annoying and I refused to wear it then, but it became my favorite bandanna. Come back my darlin'!

These are from yesterday. I went to see JUSTICE with my friend at Zepp Tokyo in Odaiba. It was my first concert in Japan and they were great, but the lighting and the crowd was just so weird to me. The lights kept going on in between songs and it was just awkward to be able to see everyone's face, I like indoor concerts because they are dark and the flashing lights are there to make you dizzy not wake you up. It was also only an hour long, which was waaaaay too short!! And the music should have been LOUDER!!!!! I'm feeling like a negative Nancy, but I'm so bummed out about it. I hope not all concerts in Japan are like this! There are so many great artist playing this month. CSS is playing today and tomorrow, then on Sunday Metronomy and Two Door Cinema Club are having a show! I wish I wasn't so broke.

*sigh sigh sigh*

So this is what I wore, got this shirt from a vintage clothing warehouse in LA during my business trip last July. I love it so much, and the moon glows in the dark. I love how it's so worn out and has all these holes and paint splotches everywhere. Looking like Sailor Moon was unintentional...

I painted my nails just for this. "DVNO" is my favorite JUSTICE song!

Book Worm

I have a million notebooks that I carry around to write random thoughts but I have a weakness to the color yellow. I love yellow! So I gave in and bought it yesterday. I shall use it to write spontaneous note to selfs and recipes or whatever tickles my fancy. It has three sections, 55 pages lined, 55 graphed, and 55 plain. I've already used the first few pages to write about soup. The graph section will come in hand for keeping random polaroids I take and I'll probably just use the plain pages to draw in.

So back in December my sister and I decided to buy Christmas sweaters to celebrate our first Christmas in Tokyo. I was hoping to find a very festive one, the kind with snowmen or Santas covered in shiny baubles. But I guess they are hard to find here. So I settled on this, but the good thing is I can still wear it even in January.

I think I'm catching a cold! Watch out guys!
